End of Week One

Well...I have survived! I have made it through my first week (even though it was not five days I consider it full) of teaching! I have learned a lot already!
Some things that happened over the past two days:

1. Yesterday morning I was informed that one of my students would be late to school because he was in the emergency room at midnight that night before. He was on the four wheeler with his dad earlier that evening and had let go and pointed to show his dad a cat with her kittens when his dad took a corner and he went flying off the four wheeler. He had a concussion and thought that he was in 1st grade again and that his teacher was Mrs. Loomans (The teacher last year)

2. Yesterday I was also informed that one of my students was sick so she was staying home. Around 10:30ish she came to school because she was feeling better even though she had thrown up at the end of her driveway a few hours before. RESULT: She ate lunch, went on the tire swing at recess, and threw up in line waiting to go inside. DAY THREE = CHILD THROWS UP WHILE I AM ON RECESS DUTY

3. Today I had PE with the k-2nd graders...one of the Ks told my students that they had a funny teacher...funny as in "Haha" or funny as in "Strange"..... I am not sure! (Currently I am wearing a black skirt with a salmon flowery shirt...and running shoes because I had PE.)

4. I read Jumanji to my students and they LOVED it!

5. My students also really enjoy the Phonics part of the day when we get to figure out the "secret word." I am using the systematic sequential phonics book. It is amazing.

6. One of my students needs a lot of help and I will be spending a chunk of my weekend trying to figure out how to help him. Today we took a spelling test and he copied down the numbers instead of writing any of the spelling words. :(

7. I took pictures of the kiddies which I will post possibly tomorrow otherwise sometime VERY soon!

Well...there is probably a lot more to say but I am tired and I want to leave school. I still haven't passed out all my books. Today went a little bit smoother than the day before and hopefully within a month things will be in order! :)
