A person's a person no matter how small
School is almost here. It seems really strange that summer is actually coming to a close and that I will be a teacher in less than two weeks. For those of you who don't know, I moved to Inwood Iowa and I am going to be teaching 1st/2nd grade at Inwood Christian! There are 8 kids in my class!
My room is coming along...I basically know where I want everything. Now I just need to get it laminated and up on my walls. I went to the teacher store the other day and got a poster/banner for my desk which says..."A person's a person no matter how small" from Dr. Seuss. I couldn't resist; it was so cute.
I also got these Dr. Seuss guide to green little sayings...about turning off the water while you brush your teeth and using reusable bags and such. I thought they were adorable and it is good to make them aware :)
Today I finished planning 1st grade phonics and reading for the first week. This afternoon I am going to work on centers and get some things organized in the room. Oh! I also got scholastic book orders and I got SOOO excited! There are so many amazing books!
I saw the movie Julie and Julia last night and thought it was adorable. It made me want to blog again and since I was planning on it with the whole new adventure of teaching, I decided today was a good day to start! There was also a preview for a movie called 'The Lonely Bones' which looked really good at first...and then it turned super creepy. I can no longer watch scary/creepy movies especially since I live by myself.
Well I will do my best to blog frequently with thoughts, pictures, questions, stories and what have you.
This is my house!

Hooray for your eyebrow! I taught in a small school, too...I loved it. Your classroom looks ready for kids!
Your classroom is looking great! I just posted some pictures on our blog, and I'll post some more on facebook soon.
MS. oudman. very nice! Your house is cute. You're renting, right? Are your landlords nice? Looks like it's got character :-)
