Next week is October?!!
Weird. The days fly by so quickly!
Today at lunch one of my students came and let me know that there was a bunch of water on the bathroom floor. I went to inspect and I asked some of the teachers what they normally do when this happens. They said that they tell William (the principal). Well he was gone today and I could hear the noise in my classroom escalating. I got an 8th grade boy to clean it up for me. As I was walking back to my classroom a 4th grader passed me and said "Man. You have an energetic classroom!" I come in and this is what I see:
The two girls are running around the room pretending to be tractors. Some of the boys are out of their seats by other boy's desks saying things like... "No! John Deere is better than that old tractor!" or "Nuh uh! That one is awesome!"
I ask why I can hear them by the office and down by the bathrooms. No one really says anything and then Lexi pipes up: Well Miss Oudman. We were all arguing about what tractor is better than another tractor.
YUP! THE ENTIRE SCENE WAS BECAUSE OF TRACTORS....ohhhhh my life. :)
Then I had recess duty for noon recess. I was monitoring three groups of kids.
1. The kickball group
2. The jump rope group
3. The 7th/8th grade boys group
Well. The kickball group is on and off arguing about the normal things they argue about. Then the 7th/8th boys (all four of them) start climbing up the basketball hoop pole. I see it and choose to ignore it (hahaha). A 4th grade girl says that they aren't supposed to be doing that.
This is my thought process: "Go ahead a do it. I don't care if you fall down and break your leg or arm. You are old enough to know what could happen. Maybe it will teach you something."
After a few minutes I finally said something to them and asked them to do something other than climbing the poles. Of course, one boy was slightly sassy when I asked why they were climbing the poles instead of playing the game. ohhh man. I wanted to be so sassy right back. I have a feeling it will probably come out eventually. They can handle it at least :)
Well tomorrow midterms get sent home. I am hungry. I need to finish up a few things and then I am rolling home.
