Roadtrip to New Mexico

Starting on Wednesday I started my drive from DeMotte to New Mexico. I stopped in Sioux Center to pick up Kim and then drove through Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. We drove 14 hours on Thursday and 4.5 hours Friday. Nebraska was boring and I didn't think that another state could be more boring. However...then came KANSAS. The sign was really really small. Also, Kansas was so boring and flat and horrible. It seemed like it was neverending. We drove on a two lane highway for most of the way through Kansas.

The Nebraska sign on the scary bridge
which was thankfully the only one on the trip

The first Kansas sign....hahaha

I had a little mishap with a traffic light...I accidently pulled up to the traffic light on the opposite side of the line. So we sat there for a long time and the other three traffic lights changed two or three times and there was a line up of cars behind me. Finally a guy came up to the right side and went back and forth on the sensor and our light changed.

Sitting at the forever long stoplight

The man who made the stoplight change!

Oklahoma wasn't too bad...probably because it was dark. but! We missed the sign for Oklahoma and turned around to get it. Then since we had to go back into Kansas we took a good picture of a Kansas sign. In Oklahoma we came across the town of Hooker. So of course we took a picture.

The Kansas sign after missing Oklahoma and
having to go back into Kansas

The best sign ever!

Then came Texas. It was dark and I was getting tired. We were looking forward to the New Mexico sign. Once we got into New Mexico we drove to Tucumcari and stayed there for the night. Our room at the econo lodge had no towels, no trash can and the shower didn't drain right so in the shower you were basically standing in your own filth. But the bed was glorious.

This morning we left for Gallup/Rehoboth. Can I just say that i am so thankful for 75 speed limit..becuase it makes it completely legal to do 80 or 85 :) We made it to Rehoboth this afternoon and moved in. We also went to dinner and then went to walmart. I have never seen such a busy walmart in my life. Some people told us that Saturdays are crazy and insane, especially tomorrow cuz its the first Saturday of the month. Supposively its the second highest grossing walmart in the world.
SO...i am here and doing well!!
